Your Best Year Ever

By Stephen Ministry Leader Diana Laskaris

It’s said that if you fail to plan you’re planning to fail. I do like the idea of setting a plan for the new year in major areas of your life. For me that means looking at goals for health, wealth and personal development. What key things will I do in the coming year to make it my best year ever? Perhaps you’d like to do the same thing.  If so, here are some ideas that take a little time now to get big results in the year ahead.

First, it’s true that people who write down their goals have greater success in actually accomplishing them. So, get out a piece of paper and we’ll work on your big three – the three things you plan to do in the year ahead that will matter most for your health, success and happiness. You can always add more categories and goals, but I like to keep things simple. I know I can focus on three things. Any more than that and I start to feel overwhelmed.

Health is one of the constant concerns we have, even if everything is working fine. We need to eat properly, move enough and keep our stress under control at a minimum. What do you want to do in the year ahead? Lose weight? Get more sleep? Relax more during your downtime? Whatever your personal situation, write down the top 3 things you will focus on for your health in the year ahead. Now you know what you will do to focus more on your health throughout the year.

Money, finances, wealth – however you define it, it costs to live in today’s world. Do you have enough resources to live the life you want now? What about life in the future? Do you have something saved for a rainy day? Or has it been raining a lot lately? Whatever your financial situation is, don’t ignore it. Write down the top 3 ways you will tend to your financial life. Whatever your financial goals make sure you focus on developing the proper habits to make them happen.

Wisdom comes in many forms. One of the most important ways you can have your best year ever is to learn about yourself. Whether you want to develop new skills, pursue a hobby for pleasure or profit, increase your social life or just get to know more about yourself, make a plan to do it in the year ahead. Look for forms of information, education and entertainment that can lead you on a path of self-discovery and personal happiness.
